Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Rukia* aged 10, Sheban* aged 8, Shamim* and Hamza* aged 5 are preschoolers at Missions of Hope Area 2 Center. They joined our center at the end of the first term, following social workers’ intervention. The four were old enough to begin school but had not enrolled due to the family's financial struggles. Two of their older siblings are already in our program and are currently in Grade 9.

Providing for the family has always been a challenge for both parents since they are unemployed. These conditions led to their enrollment in our program, and MOHI’s support did not stop there! The social workers began making frequent home visits to the family, encouraging the mother, who was on the verge of giving up. She had been struggling with alcoholism, but through consistent support and care, she stopped drinking and even began attending church, something she had never done before.

Today, there has been a great improvement in the home. The children are thriving in school and are doing well. At school, they receive nutritious meals daily, and now have access to quality Christian education. They are provided with school supplies, including uniforms, and their parents no longer have to pay their fees. The children are very disciplined, regularly attend school, and are very happy to have the opportunity to be in school with other students.

We thank God for the remarkable transformation witnessed in this family.

Term Highlights

  • We are proud of our soccer team that participated in the MOHI Soccer League at our Baba Dogo School. Our students had a wonderful opportunity to interact with peers from other MOHI centers and to showcase their athletic talent. It was an enriching experience that strengthened teamwork, confidence, and community.
  • One hundred and six students from our center participated in the grand Ignite event, showcasing their talents through dance, songs, and skits. Their faith was strengthened as they joined students from other MOHI centers in a powerful time of worship and praise.
  • We celebrated the graduation of 67 kindergarten students this term. They are now ready and excited to advance to Grade 1 next year.

Partner Connections

  • We were pleased to have Christ’s Church of the Valley (Peoria, AZ) team visit us this term. They led a vibrant Vacation Bible School (VBS) program for all our students, centered on the theme of trusting God. The children enjoyed meaningful lessons, creative crafts, and fun games, making it a memorable and spiritually enriching experience for everyone.
