Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Ian* is the eldest of three children. He lives with his parents and siblings in a single room in the Area 2 community near our Center. Ian is currently in 11th grade. He is quiet, well-disciplined, intelligent, hardworking, and has a deep love for God and reading.

When Ian finished primary school at our Area 2 center, he was top of his class and was accepted into a prestigious high school. His father was working as a casual laborer, and his mother was a stay-at-home mom. Despite his outstanding performance,  his family simply couldn’t afford the tuition and associated costs of the prestigious national school.

However, a MOHI social worker helped secure admission for him to ensure that he would not miss out on an education. MOHI stepped in to cover his first term’s tuition, school supplies, and uniform. On his first day of school, the social worker took him to help him settle down and get enrolled. Since then, Ian has continued to get good grades.. He is sure that he will qualify for university and pursue his dreams to provide for his family.

At home, his family’s circumstances have also improved. His mother, previously unemployed, is now working as a janitor for Missions of Hope International. Their social worker told her about an opening at MOHI, knowing that a steady income would improve the standard of living at home. Through prayers and counseling sessions, Ian’s father is doing better financially. His self-esteem has improved.

Term Highlights

  • We are proud of our students who participated in the Kenya Drama Festivals. This is a yearly highlight for our students. They enjoyed showing off their talents as well as interacting with other students from other schools.

  • Our students participated in the inter-MOHI schools spelling bee. We are so proud of our students who won second place.

  • Our environmental club students have been doing a great job of caring for our school grounds. The plants have created a beautiful place for our students to learn.
