Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Silas* comes from a large family of 15. Four of his brothers are in school at Missions of Hope Kibarani Center.

His parents work as casual laborers in order to provide for their children. But with such a big family and a small, inconsistent income, meeting basic needs has always been a struggle. The daily challenges made it hard for them to support all their children in school.

Growing up, Silas had little hope of ever stepping into a classroom. Education seemed like a dream. While other children of his age were in class, Silas spent most of his time helping his parents with household chores and errands. He longed for the chance to go to school and learn, but his family could not afford it.

The turning point came when a MOHI social worker identified Silas and enrolled him, giving him the opportunity to attend school. This moment marked the beginning of a new chapter for Silas and his family.

Through MOHI’s program, Silas, who is currently in Grade 8, has not only gained access to quality education but also experienced the love of God in a personal way. He has learned about the love of Jesus Christ and developed a strong faith that shapes his daily life. His confidence has greatly improved, and he now dreams of a future filled with purpose and possibility.

Silas’s family is also grateful as they have witnessed a remarkable transformation in their son. His behavior and outlook on life have all changed for the better. What once seemed impossible has now become a living testimony of God’s grace and provision.

Today, Silas is thriving. From a child who once had no hope of ever going to school, he is now thriving. MOHI has not only transformed his life but also brought hope and light to his entire family.

Term Highlights

  • We are thrilled that, for the very first time, our Grade 6 students sat for the national test, a major milestone for our school and community!
  • We are thankful for the amazing support from our parents, who came together and installed 23 water faucets for our students. These faucets now provide easy access to clean water, helping promote good hygiene through regular handwashing.
  • The parents at our school also came together and purchased revision books for students from preschool through Grade 8. These books have been instrumental in helping our students stay organized, review their lessons, and prepare effectively for their tests.

Church Highlights

  • We held our annual mission week, conducting door-to-door evangelism, open-air revival meetings, children’s ministry, and community engagement activities. Through these efforts, we reached 1,556 people with the message of Christ.
  • We are grateful that this term, 152 people gave their lives to Christ and 25 of them have begun attending church regularly. Our mission team continues to follow up the remaining new believers through pastoral visits, phone calls, and discipleship sessions.
  • We held our termly Synergy Sunday (a service that brings together the community, staff, and students to worship and strengthen teamwork) in a vibrant service. Our partners, Traders Point Christian Church, were in attendance.
  • We continued our teen mentorship programs, aiming to spiritually and mentally equip teens to deal with challenges.
