Hope Transforms: A Success Story
Emma* is a single mother caring for four children. She has two of her own and also cares for her two grandchildren who are students at our Kibarani Center.
Before Missions of Hope International came to the Kibarani community, Emma was financially strained. Though her children and grandchildren were attending a local school, she struggled to pay their school fees, keeping them enrolled. When MOHI came to the Kibarani community, Emma met a MOHI social worker, and her children and grandchildren were enrolled in our Kibarani Center.
Emma had no job, and this put a real strain on her family. It was quite a relief when her children and grandchildren joined our Kibarani Center. She knew they would receive two meals a day at school. This gave her a lot of peace knowing that her children wouldn't go hungry during her tough economic time.
Their family social worker would visit Emma often to encourage and educate her on what she could do to improve the quality of life at home. She was encouraged to join the economic empowerment program at MOHI. She joined other parents in a table banking group which enabled her to save and secure a loan to start her own business, selling traditional dresses. This gave her an income to support her family.
Emma and one of her children suffer from some health issues. She and her children have benefited from healthy home training provided by MOHI’s social workers during home visits and growth groups. The healthy home training has improved the quality of life and health of her family.
Emma joined one of MOHI's partner churches. Though she had already given her life to Christ, when she joined, she went through discipleship classes and was baptized. Now her family fellowships at that church, and Emma actively serves as a women ministry leader.
Emma is so grateful to MOHI for the transformation she has seen in her life. Her children and grandchildren are attending school, and she is hopeful about the future. She is grateful for what God has done for her family through Missions of Hope International. Glory be to God!
