Greetings from Mabatini Center. Another amazing term has come to a close, and we want to share some highlights with you. Thank you for your support and partnership as we work together to transform lives through Christ.

Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Ben* and Vincent* are siblings from a single-parent family. They attend school at our Mabatini Center. Ben is in Grade 8, and Vincent is in Grade 4. Their mother was a casual laborer who struggled to provide for the family, making it hard for them to live in the city. They lived in a small, single-room house made of iron sheets within the informal urban settlement. 

Before enrolling at MOHI, the boys frequently missed school and often went without food. Ben, who suffers from sickle cell anemia, was in poor health. Through our Pangani clinic, he received regular medical care and nutritional supplements. Occasionally, the family also received food baskets provided by the school.

In April, however, life became unbearable. The mother had been unable to secure any work and could no longer meet the family’s basic needs. The family was forced to momentarily relocate to her rural home to live with her parents. Although the children joined a local school, they continued to miss classes due to unpaid fees. Ben could not receive any medical care due to the family’s financial situation. This posed a serious risk to his health.

Realizing the gravity of the situation, the school’s administration, together with the family social worker, reached out and advised the mother to return to Nairobi so that the children could be re-enrolled into the MOHI program. She agreed to make the move, and upon her return, Ben and Vincent were enrolled in our boys' boarding school. The mother has since secured a casual job in the neighborhood. Since then, she has been able to provide for her children.

Vincent can now get supplements from our clinic. The boys are excited to be back in the program. The mother is grateful to MOHI for restoring hope to her family and for giving her children a chance to return to school.

Term Highlights

• One hundred Grade 6 and 77 Grade 9 students successfully sat for their national tests. 
• A total of 103 students graduated from kindergarten and will be joining Grade 1.
• The school leadership had a vibrant leadership training at Pangani and Kosovo centers. The training aims to develop better leaders among all staff.
  
  

Church Highlights

• Through our evangelism programs, we reached out to over 300 people. Several of them have started coming to our church on Sundays.
• We visited, prayed and shared the word of God with families in the community. We had 5 people give their lives to Christ, and they have now become members of our church.
• We held a special prayer service for the students preparing for their national tests. Staff, students and parents came together for the prayers. We are trusting in God for success and excellent results.

• Pray for the safety of all the students, staff and their families.
• Pray for good results for the students who sat for their national tests.
