Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Imelda* and her family joined Missions of Hope International in 2018 as one of the first families in the Molo Center. Back then, their family life was chaotic. Her father and mother were in constant conflict. Inevitably, they separated, leaving Imelda’s mother to take care of her children on her own. Imelda’s parents both struggled with drug and substance abuse making it difficult for the children to rely on their parents for support. Imelda for the most part felt alone.

In that environment it was difficult for her to concentrate on her education and it suffered greatly. Imelda was often torn between living with her mother or father. Though neither was a sanctuary for her.

Her life took a turn for the better after attending MOHI’s Angaza Discovery Camp, where she found hope and began following Christ. Her camp counselors shared their own stories and encouraged the campers. They took her through Bible study and taught her about the power of Jesus. While at camp, she held onto the belief that her family would one day find peace and unity.

Over the years, Imelda worked closely with a social worker and pastor, who provided counseling to her parents. Thanks to Imelda's unwavering faith and prayers, her family was finally reunited in 2022.

Her family took a turn for the better and now actively serves in their local church. Imelda is part of the praise and worship team, and her brother plays the keyboard. The entire family has been baptized, and with the guidance of MOHI's spiritual department, they are growing stronger in their faith and thriving together.

In 2023, her parents were introduced to MOHI’s economic empowerment program. They both joined and now Imelda's mother started a small clothing business that helps support the family. Through the same program, now her father also runs a small carpentry business, contributing to the family's basic needs.

Imelda’s faith changed her family for the better. The transformation in their family has brought hope into their lives and hope for the future. We thank God for the transformation that Imelda has brought to her family.
