Hope Transforms: A Success Story
Rebecca* was among the first parents to bring their children to Missions of Hope International back in 2018. During that time, her family was facing a difficult time after her husband was involved in an accident that led to the amputation of his foot. A MOHI social worker visited the family and enrolled their two children in the program.
During a parents’ meeting, the social worker helped form a group called Visionaries, and Rebecca joined. The group consisted of passionate farmers. Each member began saving about $2 per month, and after six months, the group leased 2 acres of land in the region to start farming.
They all worked together on the land in 2019, and then shared the farm products equally. Their first harvest was modest, but they reinvested their small profits to plant Irish potatoes. After three months, they harvested the potatoes and sold them, and this time, the results were far better. With her share from the sales, Rebecca decided to venture into her own farming business.
The investment has changed her life for the better. She now owns two dairy cows, a bull, and two goats. She has also purchased a small piece of land and built a home for her family. Her husband, now recovering well and walking with the help of a prosthetic leg, continues to support her efforts in taking care of the family.
Rebecca and her husband are born-again Christians, and they are grateful for how far God has brought them. They are grateful to God for connecting them with MOHI, which has helped them rebuild their lives and give their children a chance at quality Christian education. We thank God for the transformation that has taken place through Rebecca’s family.
