Community Update - Term 3, 2024Greetings from Mabatini High School!
Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ from Mabatini High School. It was a good term that the Lord had given us another opportunity to serve and be part of the transformation of lives for the children, families, and communities in Mabatini. We appreciate your support and partnership as we work towards bringing hope.

Hope Transforms: A Success Story
Sarah* is a 17-year-old Grade 9 student at Mabatini High School. She comes from a family of six living in the challenging Mathare neighborhood. Sarah is a young mother to a one-year-old son named Damian.
Her father works odd jobs, while her mother is unemployed. The family struggles to afford necessities, including food. As the eldest child, Sarah took on significant responsibilities. The area where she grew up was riddled with crime, drug and alcohol abuse. Many of the girls would get pregnant at an early age and drop out of school. Unfortunately, along the way, Sarah also became pregnant during her final year of primary school and had to drop out to care for her child.
A MOHI social worker encouraged Sarah to attend prenatal care. In February 2023, Sarah gave birth to Damian. Following the birth, the social worker and other MOHI staff visited Sarah and her family to offer prayers and encouragement. They encouraged Sarah to go back to school, encouraging her to pursue an education despite being a mother.
In November 2023, Sarah and her mother visited our Center, expressing Sarah's desire to return to school. She acknowledged the challenges of teenage motherhood but she was assured the support she would need to ensure she can finish her education.
Sarah is now attending school and working hard to build a better future for herself and her child. She is grateful to God and Missions of Hope International for the opportunity to continue her education.
