Hope Transforms: A Success Story
Chite* comes from a single-parent family, where his mother is the sole breadwinner. He has one older sibling, and his mother supports the family by selling roasted groundnuts. The family attends a local church, although initially, Chite was not actively involved in church activities.
Chite joined our center in 2015 as a Grade 1 student. He progressed steadily, and he was a committed student. However, things changed when he reached Grade 6 and became affected by peer pressure. This continued into high school, and during mentorship sessions, he would often interrupt due to deteriorating indiscipline. Despite efforts to counsel him, his behavior did not improve, and this negatively affected his performance in Grade 12.
Chite’s turning point came when he attended MOHI’s Mnara Camp (a gap year program for high school graduates that helps them figure out their career path, among other skills.) It was there that he made the decision to quit drugs and give his life to Christ. After the camp, he enrolled in a CISCO IT course and also began studying Electronic Engineering at our Technical Training Institute. In his free time, he volunteers at Kiamaiko and Ngei School, offering community service under the supervision of the head teacher.
Today, Chite is a transformed young man. He regularly visits the junior secondary school students to share his testimony and educate students about the dangers of peer pressure. We thank God for the remarkable transformation in Chite’s life.

Term Highlights
- We celebrated 17 students who gave their lives to Christ. These students are now being taken through discipleship classes.
- We successfully hosted our first Career Day, where students and parents explored career paths in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Social Sciences, and Arts through interactive demonstrations.
- Our Grade 6 and 9 students successfully sat for their national tests and will be advancing to the next grades. We wish them all the best.
- We held a teachers and parents meeting to discuss ways through which we can cooperate to make our students excel more. The parents were very supportive, and we look forward to working together for the good of our students.
Church Highlights
- We held overnight worship meetings, prayers, and training for leaders, during which we commissioned 10 leaders in various departments, such as deacons and deaconesses, ushers, and men and women leaders.
- We had four discipleship programs that took place at different times throughout the term.
- We held a Synergy Sunday service (a service that brings together students, staff and community members for worship, fellowship, and celebration of God’s goodness) to worship and strengthen our teamwork.
- We conducted prayers for our Grade 6 and 9 students, where parents and teachers attended. These students sat for their national tests, and we are hopeful that they will perform well.
Partner Connections
- A team from Summit Christian Church (Sparks, NV) visited us. They led a VBS program for our first to sixth-grade students and later joined us for a worship service with 292 junior school students. Their “Redeemer” skit deeply impacted the students, reminding them of God’s constant and unwavering love, no matter what they face.
The team also conducted home visits, sharing the gospel and praying with families in our community. They facilitated a debriefing session with 30 women, during which open conversations about personal challenges and parenting created meaningful connections.
In addition, the team offered teacher training focused on early-grade language instruction and how to integrate language skills across subjects. This training was extremely valuable, especially as reading remains a major challenge in the lower grades. - We welcomed a team from Crossroads Christian Church (Corona, CA). They held VBS sessions for preschool through fifth-grade students. The team conducted home visits as well. Their visit concluded with a worship service and a color-run activity. During worship, the team helped our sixth to ninth-grade students discover their spiritual gifts and learn how to use them in serving the church.
Prayer Requests
- Pray with us that peace and unity will continue in our community. We hope that any potential protests or unrest will be avoided so that our students and staff can learn and work in a safe, stable environment.
- Pray also for economic empowerment within our community. Stronger livelihoods will help families meet their basic needs and fulfill their commitments easily.
- Join us as we pray for our school, trusting God to provide the resources and support needed to expand and improve our infrastructure. May He guide every step of these projects so that our school continues to grow and remain a safe, inspiring, and nurturing place for learning.
