Greetings from Kiamaiko!
Receive greetings from Kiamaiko Center! We are grateful for your support and prayers throughout this first term. It is a joy to share a few highlights from the ways students are learning, growing, and being encouraged through the hope of Christ.

School Highlights
- We held a talent show where students showcased their abilities and began identifying gifts they can continue developing over time.
- Students and staff received training on fire drills and security procedures, helping the school community prepare for emergency situations and strengthen safety practices.
- We thank God for our teachers, whose steady support helped students transition into their new grades during the first term of the academic year.
Church Highlights
- We held discipleship classes for 10 church members who are preparing for baptism.
- We gathered for a Synergy Sunday service, which brings together the community, staff, and students to worship and strengthen unity. More than 200 people attended.
- Through community outreach and evangelism, the team reached 400 people, and 31 gave their lives to Christ.
Together in Ministry
- A team of students from Crossroads High School visited and led Vacation Bible School for 514 students from preschool through sixth grade. Students enjoyed crafts, Bible stories, snacks, and time with the visiting team. The team also met with sponsored students, which was meaningful for students and staff.
A Story of Hope
Edwin is a father who has walked through seasons of loss and uncertainty while continuing to care for his family. After the death of his wife, he carried the daily responsibility of providing for his young son while trying to find steady work.
During a home visit, a MOHI social worker learned that Edwin’s son was often staying home during the school day because the family was facing financial strain. Staff followed up with Edwin, listened to his situation, and encouraged him as he considered the next step for his child. His son was later enrolled at MOHI’s Kiamaiko Center, where he began learning, building friendships, and enjoying the rhythm of school.
As Edwin continued attending school meetings, he learned about MOHI Capital Ltd., a financial services initiative under MOHI that provides microloans to help families within the communities we serve. He joined a peer group where members prayed together, encouraged one another, and received entrepreneurship training. Over time, he secured a loan and started his own shoe-selling business, which has helped him provide more consistently for his family.
Through regular visits and encouragement from a social worker and pastor, Edwin also began growing spiritually. He gave his life to Christ, joined a local church, and is now pursuing theological studies to deepen his understanding of God’s Word.
Today, Edwin and his son are continuing to move forward with support around them. His son is growing in school, and Edwin is taking faithful steps as a father, business owner, and follower of Christ. We thank God for the ways this family is being strengthened over time.
