Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Asmani* is a five-year-old boy currently in kindergarten at Missions of Hope Chumani Center. He lives with his parents and siblings in the Chumani community. His mother spoke to one of our social workers during home visits in the community. Asmani and his three brothers were then admitted in school, becoming part of the Missions of Hope International family.

The family had been struggling from a jigger (a small flea that burrows under the skin) infestation that has affected most members of the family with Asmani being the youngest and suffering the most. Asmani could barely walk due to the severity of the infestation on his hands and feet. MOHI social workers visited the family at home teaching and encouraging Asmani’s mother to keep their home, clothes and bedding clean. As a result their health started to improve. The medical team at MOHI Chumani treated the family’s jiggers and taught them how to prevent further infection in the future.

We are grateful that these efforts have significantly reduced the jigger problem, allowing Asmani to wear shoes and walk properly. The home is now cleaner, and the children are neat. Asmani's mother deeply appreciates the MOHI staff for their support and guidance, transforming their lives and their health for the better.
