Hope Transforms: A Success Story
Mary* is the firstborn in a family of two. She lives in the Bondeni community, and her life is being greatly impacted by MOHI. She joined Missions of Hope Bondeni Center in 2022 as a preschool student. At that time, she lived with her aunt, who cared for her while her mother worked as a housekeeper in the neighborhood. Life was not easy.
The family often struggled to meet the basic needs, and paying rent was a constant challenge. There were moments when their landlord would lock them out, forcing them to seek shelter from kind-hearted neighbors.
Despite these challenges, Mary’s mother remained determined. Earning about $2 a day, she began saving almost $12 a month, with a dream of building a better future. Eventually, she made a bold decision to leave her job and venture into selling second-hand clothes. What began with just a few items soon grew into a small, steady business, and she eventually bought more stock. Mary’s father also sells second-hand shoes in the neighborhood, contributing to the family’s finances.
Today, Mary’s family lives happily in a bigger house. She is growing strong, learning with joy, and surrounded by love and stability. Her mother continues to dream big, planning to expand her business even further, and one day become a supplier to other small vendors. With careful saving and access to small loans, she is building a sustainable and empowering future for her family.
Mary’s family story is a testament to the power of hope, the strength of a mother’s love, and the impact of the hope of Christ. Through MOHI, Mary has found a safe space to learn and grow, while her family continues to rise above adversity with courage and faith.

Term Highlights
- We successfully enrolled 70 new preschool students for the year 2026. Both the children and their parents are thrilled and eagerly looking forward to joining our programs.
- One hundred and nine preschool students graduated and are ready to move up to Grade 1 in the coming year.
Church Highlights
- We held a series of post-Angaza discipleship sessions (follow up sessions held for the students who attend our Christian discipleship camp) where students were divided into small groups of ten to discuss faith-based topics. These sessions have proven to be very effective in helping students grow spiritually and deepen their understanding of God’s Word.
- We took 44 students through a new believers’ class, preparing them for baptism. Later, we invited the students to attend a special baptism service at the church where five of them were baptized.
- A total of 155 students from our center participated in this term’s Grand Ignite Program (a spiritual event designed to inspire and strengthen our primary school students’ walk with Christ).
- We hosted joint prayer sessions for our Grade 6 and 9 students as they prepared for their national tests. Parents, staff, and students gathered together to pray for the candidates, creating a powerful moment of unity and encouragement.
- We had a Synergy Sunday service (a service that brings together students, staff and community members for worship, fellowship, and celebration of God’s goodness). It was a powerful time of praising and worshipping.
Partner Connections
- We appreciate the Africa Fire Mission (Cincinnati, OH) team for visiting our center. It was a wonderful time of prayer, connection with our students, and hands-on fire and safety drills. The training will help ensure safer evacuations during emergencies, both at school and at home.
- Thanks to Traders Point Christian Church (Indianapolis, IN) for partnering with us to serve our students, parents, and the wider community. The team conducted VBS sessions that inspired and encouraged students and staff.
Prayer Requests
- Pray for God's protection for our students, parents, staff and their families.
- Pray for God's provision of partnerships to facilitate the successful implementation of our programs.
- Pray for the students and community members who received Christ during the term to continue walking in the light.
