Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. We thank God for His guidance throughout the term. It is by His grace that we have come this far and achieved so much. We appreciate the hard work and commitment of our staff, students and parents. Thank you for your support and prayers.

Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Caren* is a Grade 1 student at Missions of Hope Nanam Center. She joined the school in May this year. She is 10 years old and the third of five children. One of her siblings also attends school at our center. They live with both parents. Like many other students in her community, Caren had no hope of ever going to school. Her father strongly held to cultural beliefs and believed her future was in marriage. She often wore traditional beads around her neck, which in her culture symbolized that she was set apart for marriage.

She spent her days herding goats, fetching water, and collecting firewood. To her community, these duties prepare girls for adulthood and marriage. But Caren’s mother had a different vision for her daughter. She often watched other students walk to school with books in their hands, while Caren was out in the fields. Caren also grew curious; she wanted to learn how to read and write like the other students. 

The mother gathered the courage to talk to Caren’s father. She pleaded with him to allow their daughter to attend school. Each conversation was difficult and uncertain, but little by little, it opened a door of hope. Over time, her father began to see how eager Caren was to learn, and how much education could change her life, and he agreed. 

Caren was finally enrolled in our school. Although she started school late, she was determined to catch up with her peers. She was excited to read, write, and sing gospel hymns like other students. She listened carefully, practiced daily, and soon her confidence began to grow. Her face became brighter, and her eyes shone with hope. 

Within a few months, Caren became one of the top students in her class. Her self-esteem grew, and she enjoyed learning with other students. She started leading Sunday school songs, reciting memory verses, and singing during school presentations. These activities helped her grow spiritually and emotionally. 

Today, Caren dreams of becoming a teacher. She wants to help children in her community and be a role model. She hopes to show other girls how education can change their lives, just like it has changed hers.

Caren’s journey is a beautiful testimony of transformation and hope. She is an inspiration to many in her community.

Term Highlights

• We held our first graduation ceremony ever for our kindergarten students. The day was filled with excitement, laughter, and heartfelt joy shared by our students, parents, teachers, and the entire community as they witnessed with joy the transformation that MOHI has brought to the community. 
• Our preschool teachers took part in a hands-on training session on creating engaging teaching and learning materials. This experience has sparked creativity and helped us continue improving the quality of education we provide.

Partner Connections

• We were blessed to host the Christ’s Church of the Valley (Peoria, AZ) team for a two-day medical camp. They offered free check-ups, treatment, and health education to our students. The visit brought joy, care, and valuable lessons on healthy living, leaving our students healthier, happier, and ready to learn.

Prayer Requests

• Thank God for a successful year and for the transformation we have seen in our students, their families and the whole community.
• Pray for the sponsorship of more students from our center.
• Pray for God’s protection over all our students, staff and the Nanam community.
