Hope Transforms: A Success Story
Jenny*, a resident of Namarei, is a mother of eight, two of whom attend our center in Grade 4. She also works at the Namarei Center as a cook. She is married to a polygamous husband.
When Jenny first joined MOHI, She wore customary clothing, adorned her neck with necklaces, and spoke only her native language. Initially, she struggled to communicate effectively, pay her children's commitment fees, and provide consistent meals for her family.
Today, Jenny's life is a testament to positive change. Working as a cook has empowered her in many ways.
Anyone unfamiliar with her past wouldn't guess the challenges she has overcome. Financially, she can now consistently feed her own children. Spiritually, she has become a dedicated member of her local church. She actively participates in services and even tithes regularly. Her children are also active members of the church, leading the praise and worship team.
Jenny's communication skills have also improved dramatically. She now confidently converses in Swahili, a stark contrast to her limited communication abilities when she first joined.
She is also a member of a women's self-help group, that meets every Saturday morning to manage group savings and learn sustainable farming practices taught at MOHI. She consistently contributes her weekly savings.
Both physically and mentally, Jenny is healthy and thriving. She arrives at work early each day and diligently fulfills her duties without needing constant supervision.
Jenny has become a role model for the women in her community, especially young mothers who may have previously considered themselves solely homemakers. Her dedication to hard work encourages others to provide for their families.

Term Highlights
- Sixty-nine kindergarten students graduated and are set to transition to Grade 1 in 2025.
- Our Grade 4 students participated in the MOHI spelling bee competition. They had a great time interacting with other students and sharpening their skills.
- All Namarei staff members were privileged to attend team-building this term to enjoy and refresh themselves.
- We dedicated a six-classroom tuition block that now houses our library and science lab. The classrooms were also well-equipped with chairs and lockers for our students to study comfortably.
Prayer Requests
- We are trusting God for sponsors to our unsponsored students.
- We thank God for the staff houses and guest rooms He has blessed us with to accommodate staff. As the school expands each year, we thank God for his provisions to help us accommodate the growth.
- The community we serve is facing water shortages due to the prolonged drought. We pray for rains that will not cause destruction and for a permanent water source for the community.
