Rediscovering Hope at Angaza Discovery Camp
Meet Alisson, from our Mabatini community. Life in the slums had weighed heavily on Alisson, it brought a strain to her faith and left her feeling abandoned by God. But her journey took an unexpected turn when she attended Angaza Discovery Camp.
Before Angaza, Alisson's faith had been shaken. She had once been a beacon of hope, sharing her love for God with others. However, life's hardships led her friends to question her beliefs, and doubt began to creep into her own heart. "If your God is real, why would He let you go through these challenges?" they asked. Their words echoed in her mind, amplifying her uncertainties.
But Angaza offered a lifeline. Through Bible study and the guidance of her mentor, Emma, Alisson found renewed faith. Emma's story of overcoming adversity while maintaining unwavering faith resonated deeply with Alisson. "I thought that if Emma went through all of these challenges but never once doubted God, neither should I," she reflects. This realization sparked a renewed commitment to her faith, as she immersed herself in Scripture and embraced the teachings at camp.

Angaza provided more than just spiritual nourishment. Alisson's first trip to the beach became a profound experience. The vastness of the ocean served as a tangible reminder of God's boundless love. "Our mentor told us that God's love for me is even bigger than the ocean," she recalls. "And the ocean seems to go on forever."
Alisson now sees her struggles as part of God’s divine plan, leading her to Angaza to rekindle her faith and hope in a good God. "I have received so much love and support through my mentors and connecting with nature here at the coast that it renewed my faith in God," she says.

Through its nurturing environment, spiritual guidance, and enriching activities, the camp has helped Alisson rediscover hope and strengthen her faith. Angaza Discovery Camp gave Alisson hope for her future and refreshed her trust in God. Her prayer is that every child who passes through Angaza will experience the same renewal of hope that she has found.
Angaza Discovery Camp is our two-week discipleship camp for all MOHI sixth-grade students. During camp, students immerse themselves in nature and engage in group Bible studies, individual devotion time and energetic worship. Your support can help students, like Alisson, find their faith and hope at our Angaza Discovery camp.
