Greetings from Turkana High School!

Peace to you from our Lord Jesus Christ! The Lord has been faithful and as we come to the end of the second term, here are a few highlights from our center.

Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Alice* is a 16-year-old, eleventh grader at Turkana High School. She resides in Turkana, where her family relocated in 2017. She is the second-born in a family of five — one sister and three brothers. Alice and her older sister, Abi*, who graduated from Missions of Hope Turkana High School in 2024, are beneficiaries of the MOHI program.

Her father works as a manual laborer to provide for the family. Alice joined our Napuu Center in 2018 as a Grade 5 student. She quickly stood out as a bright student with dreams of becoming a lawyer.

However, in her first year of high school in 2023, things took an unexpected turn. Her character and attitude changed. She lost her academic focus and her performance dropped. This was unlike her. Eventually, it was discovered that she was struggling with peer pressure, which had started to affect her choices.

The school chaplain, social worker and school administration stepped in. They provided her with counseling, prayer and mentorship. Her father, despite his own struggles with alcoholism, remained actively involved. He could come to school when needed and also make impromptu visits to check on how Alice was doing. It was a slow process, but with great results.

Gradually, Alice began to change her ways, and her class performance improved. Now, she has rediscovered her purpose and is committed to transforming her life. With renewed faith and determination, she looks ahead to the future, dreaming not only of attending university but also of giving back to her community.

We give glory to God and trust that next year,  Alice will pass her high school exit tests, join a university and pursue her dreams. Please continue to pray for Alice.
