Greetings from Turkana High School!

Glory to God! We pray that you are doing well in the Lord. We had a great last term of the year and we would like to share with you some of the term’s highlights. Thank you for your support and partnership as we bring the hope of Jesus to the community here at Turkana.

Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Emma* is a Grade 12 student at Turkana High School. Born and raised in Turkana, she is the third of seven children raised by a single mother. Her father left the family and remarried, a common practice among Turkana men.

Emma's mother works odd jobs to support her large family, often struggling to provide even one meal a day. Despite these challenges, she recognizes the value of education, even though it's not culturally encouraged. A devout Christian, she ensures her children attend church every Sunday.

MOHI connected with Emma's family during a community outreach program focused on education, hygiene, and evangelism. Recognizing the family's struggles, MOHI enrolled Emma in Turkana High School. This provided significant relief for Emma's mother.

Since joining MOHI, Emma has experienced significant growth. Her academic performance has improved, and her self-confidence has soared. She is optimistic about her future and grateful for the support and opportunities provided by MOHI.

  • Sixty-five students gave their lives to Christ during a weekend challenge hosted by our church in Napuu. They then joined the new believers class.

  • Our staff conducted community outreach, providing essential items like food baskets and clothing to families in need. It was an inspiring event.

  • We are very proud of the Student Christian Union ( a Christian club) team. They successfully organized Christian events and Sunday services throughout the term. They have grown into strong leaders of faith and great role models for other students.

  • We are also proud of the Environmental and Red Cross clubs. They maintained our seedling nursery and kept our compound clean all term. We look forward to seeing fully grown trees and a more beautiful campus soon.

  • Pray for the good health of all our students and their families.

  • Pray that God blesses our community, especially our parents, with financial breakthroughs so they can provide daily meals for their children.

  • Pray that God protects our students during the holiday break, and that we may reunite in the new year, 2025.

  • Pray against drought and famine in this region.
