Greetings from Turi Senior School!

Greetings from Turi Senior School. We have come to the end of another school term and are glad to share a few highlights with you. Thank you for your support and partnership as we continue walking alongside students in their learning, faith, and growth.

Head Teacher, Turi Senior School

  • We welcomed 89 new Grade 10 students this year, marking an exciting start for our newest class under Kenya’s new curriculum.
  • Twenty students participated in leadership training organized by the Kenya Students Christian Fellowship, a Christian student organization in Kenya that helps students grow in faith, leadership, and service.
  • Our Scout Club took part in Founder’s Day celebrations, engaging in activities that promote teamwork, discipline, and leadership.
  • Our staff and students were trained in Farming God’s Way. We are excited to apply what we learned on our school farm.

  • We conducted an Ignite program for Grade 9 students. Although the program is usually for primary school students, our ninth graders were included so they could benefit from the discipleship experience.
  • We held a Synergy Sunday service, bringing together the community, staff, and students for worship and fellowship.
  • Through community outreach and evangelism, we reached 90 people, and three people gave their lives to Jesus Christ.

Tom is a senior school student who has been part of the MOHI community for several years. After a season of family loss and financial strain, he entered senior school carrying responsibilities and emotions that were difficult to manage.

During his early years in senior school, Tom began spending time with peers who influenced him in unhealthy ways. His teachers and social workers noticed the change and continued reaching out through guidance, counseling, and mentorship. They did not define him by that difficult season but helped him think about his choices, his faith, and the kind of future he wanted to pursue.

Over time, Tom began to respond to that support. He gave his life to Christ, joined a discipleship class, and started rebuilding his sense of purpose. Through continued mentorship, he learned more about making wise decisions and growing in Christlike character.

Tom is now active in school life. He plays soccer, serves in student leadership, and has developed a strong interest in Physics and electrical engineering. He is also a passionate baker and enjoys sharing his skills during school talent events. Tom continues to grow as a responsible young man, and he often encourages other students to make wise choices.

A different name has been used to honor privacy.

  • Pray for good health among our students, staff, and their families.
  • Pray that God will protect our partners, sponsors, and their families.
  • Pray that students sitting for national tests this year will prepare well and perform excellently.

As you read about how God is working, please consider sending a message of encouragement to your sponsored child through the MOHI mobile app or through your online sponsor account. Your words can remind them that someone is praying for them, cheering them on, and grateful to be part of their journey.
