Hope Transforms: A Success Story
Martin* joined our school in the year 2023 after graduating from our Bondeni Center. He is currently a Grade 10 student. He lives in Bondeni, Nairobi, with both parents and his four siblings.
His transformation journey began in Grade 8 when he gave his life to Christ and was later baptized. After completing the eighth grade, he had no hope of joining high school because his family could not afford the fees. But through MOHI's support, he was able to join MOHI’s Turi High School. This reignited his dream of becoming a teacher one day.
Despite living in a community where many young people struggle with peer pressure, crime and drug abuse, Martin has been able to overcome all these, thanks to his strong faith in Christ. While at school, he is an active member of the Christian Union (a fellowship of Christian students within educational institutions dedicated to spiritual growth and faith strengthening), serving both as a peer counselor and an evangelist. He reaches out to fellow students as well as to the many youths back at home in Bondeni, especially those he schooled with in primary school.
Martin is also known for his eloquence and confidence in public speaking. His love for communication has blossomed into a passion for poetry. Recently, he represented Turi High School at the Kenya Regional Music festival with a powerful solo performance entitled “Mercy Be Remembered.” Poetry has helped him build his self-esteem and strengthen his ability to share his faith boldly.
The daily devotions and other spiritual programs have equipped Martin to be a committed servant of Christ. His service extends beyond the classroom as he continues to encourage and minister to his family and community, living out his faith with purpose and passion.
