Hope Transforms: A Success Story
Faith* is the fourth-born in a family of six siblings living in the Molo community. In 2024, she joined MOHI’s Turi High School and began her academic journey as a well-disciplined and hardworking student. However, toward the end of the school year, things began to change.
While at home, Faith fell in with the wrong crowd. Influenced by her new friends, she made the drastic decision to drop out of school and run away. Together, the girls coordinated their escape from various schools and disappeared into a nearby town.
Her sudden disappearance left her family and social worker deeply worried. They searched tirelessly and eventually discovered Faith hiding out with a friend in a rented house. The girls had been promised work by someone who claimed to be helping them.
With the support of the Child Welfare Association and local police, Faith was safely rescued and brought back home. After returning, she began a series of counseling sessions to reflect on her choices and process the experiences that had led her astray. Over time, Faith came to understand the value of education and recognized the love and care waiting for her at home and at MOHI.
She chose to cut ties with the friends who had negatively influenced her life. Not long after, Faith gave her life to Christ and joined her local church, which she now attends during school breaks.
Today, Faith is filled with new purpose. She’s back in school, focused on her goals, and dreaming of one day becoming a meteorologist. Her story is a beautiful example of redemption, resilience, and the power of community support.
