Hope Transforms: A Success Story

David* is a Grade 9 student at Missions of Hope Turi High School. He previously attended MOHI’s Area 2 Center, where he completed Grade 8. Though David is known for his politeness and discipline, he faced a significant setback after finishing primary school.

His family moved to rural Western Kenya, and David found himself living with his elderly grandmother who couldn't afford to send him to high school. Desperate, he resorted to child labor, earning less than a dollar a day to support himself and his grandmother.

A social worker from Area 2 embarked on a challenging mission to find David. After a determined search, the social worker located him in a dire situation in Western Kenya. The social worker reached out to the principal of Turi High School to seek his admission in the third term of 2024.

Despite joining the school late, David was eager to learn. Teachers have been providing him with additional support to help him catch up on the missed coursework from the first and second terms.

Currently, David is thriving academically and actively participates in extracurricular activities. His aspiration is to pursue a career in accounting.

Thanks to the support and intervention of the social worker and the school, David's future is filled with hope.
