Hope Transforms: A Success Story

In 2019, Missions of Hope International was invited to the Shambini community by a Senior Police Officer who was also the Chaplain of the Kenya Police. He had seen the impact that MOHI had had on other communities and wanted his community to benefit from the same.

We recruited 252 students from the community to join the Center after the construction is complete. In the meantime, they are all enrolled in MOHI’s feeding program, ensuring that they get something to eat before school opens. This is not the only activity happening at the new Center. MOHI hosted a medical camp where the children and community members received medical attention.

MOHI is taking a holistic approach to ministry in the Shambini community. We seek to educate by providing quality Christian education to the children, two nutritious meals every school day, and the support they need to thrive.

Our parents have the opportunity to be empowered through skills training, business training, and small microloans that allow them to create economic transformation in their homes.

The community will be restored through access to healthcare through medical and dental clinics, though our emphasis is on the prevention of disease and promotion of healthy living.

Lastly, we are intentional about redeeming the community through spreading the word of Jesus Christ. We do this by teaching the children about Jesus in school. The children in school and the community, through church planting, have access to discipleship programs that equip them to spread the gospel throughout the community.

This holistic approach has proven to be effective in breaking the cycle of poverty while also spreading the life-transforming hope of Jesus Christ.

We’re incredibly grateful to you, our partners, for your generous support. Together, we shall bring transformation into this community through the love of Christ.
