Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Lydia* is a 13-year-old Grade 5 student at our Olturot Center. She lives in Olturot village with her single mother in a small, single-room manyatta made from sticks, poles, mud, boxes, and old clothes.

Lydia and her family live in a remote area of Olturot, far from facilities like schools and hospitals, which are largely inaccessible. Lydia has had a heart condition since early childhood, and it continued to worsen as she grew older. Her family had given up hope, believing there was nothing more they could do to save her life. However, when MOHI came to her community, she was finally able to receive much-needed medical attention.

In 2022, when the MOHI health team visited the Olturot Center, they recognized that Lydia was in desperate need of medical attention. Immediate action was taken, and Lydia was brought to Nairobi for treatment. We thank God that, through MOHI, Lydia was able to receive treatment.

Today, she is doing well, healthy, and able to go to school. Her family was initially skeptical about her recovery, as they had tried everything in their power to help her. However, as she began to recover, hope was restored. They are grateful to God for sending MOHI to Olturot in time to save their little girl.
