Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Jackson* is a twelfth grade student at our school. Raised by his single mother in an informal settlement in Nairobi, he faced many challenges growing up. His mother was a casual laborer and her income was barely enough to cater for the family needs. His elder brother also struggled with drug abuse.

After being out of school due to financial constraints, Jackson was enrolled at MOHI in 2011. He received uniforms, books, and consistent tuition support which made life easier. His family also benefited from food baskets to keep them going. Today, Jackson is thriving and proudly pursuing a dream that once felt out of reach. As he sat for his national exit tests, his hope was to continue his education beyond high school.

Jackson’s faith deepened during his time in high school. He gave his life to Christ while in primary school, and the school’s discipleship and mentorship programs nurtured his spiritual growth. He also developed strong leadership skills and was later elected as the school captain while in junior high school. He actively participated in the Christian Union (a fellowship of Christian students within educational institutions dedicated to spiritual growth and faith strengthening). He learned to make sound decisions and avoided peer pressure.

Today, Jackson has grown into a responsible young man. His story is a testament to the transformative power of hope. He has also become a confident and disciplined leader with a promising future. His success is a direct result of the love, mentorship, and support he received from MOHI, his sponsors and teachers.

  • Our Grade 12 students successfully sat for their national exit tests and we pray that they score good grades. This test determines whether or not they’ll get to join university.
  • We were encouraged by the positive progress in student sponsorships this term. Many students have been sponsored.

  • We hosted a team from the Garden Spot Village who visited and spent meaningful time with us. They attended our Sunday church service and shared the word of God with both the students and the staff.
  • We were pleased to host a group of senior citizens from Outlook Christian Church (McCordsville, IN) who visited our school and encouraged both students and staff through their presence and partnership.
  • We welcomed the Africa Fire Mission (Cincinnati, OH) team to our center. They conducted evacuation drills, assessed our dorm, and provided fire-safety training. We are glad that our staff and students are now equipped with such vital skills.

  • Pray for our Grade 12 students who sat for their final tests to get good grades and advance to the university and pursue their dream careers.
  • Pray for God's provision for the families we serve that they will be able to provide for their children and support their families.
  • Pray for our students, staff and families that they will be in good health.
