Hope Transforms: A Success Story
Daniel* is a determined 11th-grade student at our Ndovoini Boys High School. He comes from a village in Bura and is the eldest of seven children. His mother is a homemaker, and his father supports the family through small-scale farming that relies heavily on seasonal rainfall.
Daniel first joined while in second grade. He completed his primary school education before continuing on to join our high school at the Ndovoini Boys High School.
During the holidays, just before joining high school, Daniel suffered an injury while playing with a neighbor. Daniel was accidentally struck, and the impact left him unable to hear in one ear. His parents tried every traditional remedy known to them to cure his hearing, but none were successful. Daniel was left only hearing low-pitched sounds, a challenge that affected both his learning and social life.
When Daniel enrolled at Ndovoini Boys High School, he was taken to the school clinic for evaluation. The medical team quickly realized he needed specialized care and referred him to an ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) specialist. MOHI covered the cost of his hospital visit and arranged his transport to Nairobi for further assessment.
The specialist diagnosed permanent hearing loss in Daniel’s left ear and recommended surgery. As a more immediate solution, Daniel was fitted with hearing aids to help him in class and daily life.
While the surgery is still pending, the hearing aids have already made a remarkable difference. Daniel can now hear clearly in both ears, focus in class, and comfortably interact with his peers without needing to turn his head to catch conversations. He is filled with joy and gratitude, thankful to MOHI for making it possible to hear again and praising God for the gift of a second chance.
