Hope Transforms: A Success Story

After his parents separated, Robert* found himself under the care of his elder brother, at the age of 13. Though only in his mid-twenties and already a husband and father of two, his brother Reuben*, took on the responsibility of caring for his younger brother. Life was not easy. He worked tirelessly in casual jobs to provide for his family and brother.

Robert’s life changed when a social worker from MOHI found and enrolled him at Ndovoini Boys School in Grade 6. From the very beginning, Robert stood out as a disciplined, hardworking, and ambitious boy. Despite the family’s financial struggles, he remained focused on his dream of becoming a doctor. Having witnessed many people in his community suffer from illnesses and injuries without access to proper medical care, he was determined to one day make a difference.

Through MOHI, Robert got access to quality Christian education, mentorship, and the resources he needed to thrive. The school nurse ensured that he stayed healthy and able to concentrate in class through regular checkups and health awareness programs. The transformation was not limited to Robert. His brother was introduced to practical ways of improving their household’s livelihood and stability.

Robert also encountered the transforming love of Christ. He participated in devotions, learned to trust God, and grew in faith. His spiritual growth became the foundation of his perseverance and hope.

When Robert sat for his Grade 8 exit test, he performed exceptionally well. His outstanding performance earned him an invitation to a prestigious local high school. There, he continued to excel both academically and in character.

Today, Robert is pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing at the university, steadily walking toward his dream of serving others through healthcare. His journey is a testament to the power of holistic transformation, and we are very excited to be part of it.
