Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Beth* grew up in a remote village very many miles away from our Napuu school. She was raised by her grandmother from when she was two years old. Her mother, who bore her out of wedlock, remarried, leaving Beth in her grandmother’s care. Sadly, her grandmother passed away in 2023. Beth was then left under her aunt’s care. It was with her aunt that they relocated from the remote village to our Napuu community.

Beth met one of our social workers while they were visiting parents in their homes. Beth appeared malnourished. Her aunt was struggling to make ends meet, so she could not afford to feed Beth regularly. Beth was then enrolled into our Napuu Center and joined the feeding program at the school. While in school, Beth received two meals a day and she would also go home with food in the evening to share with her aunt.

Beth however was not used to the school environment. The village she came from had no schools and being raised by her grandmother, no one had shown interest in educating her. Beth started school later than most children her age. She struggled with understanding her classmates and teachers since she could only speak her native language.

Impressively, Beth has shown great improvement. Slowly, she has learned Swahili. Her health has also improved tremendously. Her teachers talk about her improvement both in class and with other students. She is very proactive and disciplined as well.

Her aunt is also grateful since she was unsure of how she would raise her niece and honor her grandmother's wish for her to take good care of Beth. Now, with Beth in school, her aunt can now focus on her work and provide a great life for Beth to thrive. To Beth, Missions of Hope International is not just a school, it has become like the family and mother she never had.

  • We are so proud of our 78 students who participated in the Kenya Music Festival competition to regional level. They presented traditional songs and poems. Congratulations to our talented students.

  • 53 students participated in the Kenya Primary Schools Sports Association competitions. Our students competed at the zonal level and had a great time showcasing their talent as well as meeting other students from different schools in the area.

  • Jill Shuck visited our MTTI (MOHI Technical Training Institute). She has been a long time partner sharing skills with our baking and culinary arts students that Jill learned starting her own baking business. She came to encourage our students and share more tips.

  • We had a great time with Eastside Christian Church. During their visit, they had a medical camp where members of the community and the students were able to get medical attention. They built two homes for two families, changing their lives forever. They gave 12 food baskets to 12 families, went swimming with the girls, had a conference with the boys and finally shared a meal with the staff members. What a wonderful time we had with them.

  • Pray for good health for our students, staff and families that we serve.

  • Thank God with us for all the transformation we have seen here in Napuu. Pray that God continues to give us the grace to do His good work.

  • Thank God with us for the ongoing construction projects at the center. The new buildings will serve our students very well, making our center a more comfortable place to learn and transform lives.
