Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Janet*, is a bright and spirited 10-year-old from Mathare North community. She is in Grade 5 and lives with her parents and two siblings. Her mother works as a shopkeeper while her father is currently unemployed. Despite the challenges at home, Janet remains optimistic about her future and dreams of becoming an accountant to help lift her family out of the cycle of poverty.

Janet has always had a passion for singing, playing soccer, and swimming. Going to MOHI’s discipleship camp, Angaza Discovery Camp, was a significant opportunity for her. It provided her not only with a break from her daily routine but also with a chance to explore her talents and learn new things.

One of the most profound impacts of the Angaza Discovery Camp on Janet was the spiritual growth she experienced. She learned a great deal about God’s love for her and her family. Through various camp activities and lessons, she discovered more about God's creation and felt His presence in her life. This new knowledge and understanding brought her a sense of peace and hope.

Initially, Janet's cheekiness made her stand out. However, as the camp progressed, a remarkable transformation took place. The supportive environment, coupled with the loving guidance of the camp staff, helped Janet develop healthier coping mechanisms that allowed her to relate better with others.

Janet made the big decision to give her life to Christ. Her newfound faith has filled her with eagerness to continue her journey of salvation. She is excited about the future and the positive changes she can bring to her family and community.

Term Highlights

• Our school’s track and field teams participated in several athletic competitions up to the regional level.
  
  
• We are proud of our junior high school athletics team that competed up to the regional level.
  
  
• This term, our spiritual committee organized morning devotions, prayer conclusions and prayer retreats at the center so well.
