Hope Transforms: A Success Story
Daisy* is a Grade 2 student at our school. She is 7years old. Daisy was living with her mother in a small, temporary single room since her parents separated two years ago. Even before the separation, life was full of challenges. Her mother struggled to provide for the family through casual jobs, and their days were filled with uncertainty and hardship. Each day brought new challenges. Despite all that, Daisy’s mother held on to hope, believing that her child deserved a quality education, stability, and a future filled with dignity and purpose.
That hope began to take shape when Daisy joined MOHI. Through our social worker, she was enrolled in school and began to thrive academically. Her confidence grew as she discovered new skills and found joy in learning. Her mother even started a small hairdressing business to support her family.
Through MOHI’s health program, Daisy received vital medical attention, including treatment for recurring chest issues that had been keeping her out of school. She is healthy, active, and able to fully participate both in and out of the classroom.
Daisy and her mother have grown spiritually through regular visits from MOHI staff who encouraged them with God’s Word. As their faith deepened, they joined a local church and began attending Bible studies, experiencing peace and purpose through their renewed faith in Christ.
With support from MOHI’s microfinance program, Daisy’s mother received business training and access to a loan just in time to rescue her struggling hairdressing business. What once seemed like a failing dream is now a thriving reality. Today, she proudly runs both a salon and a barbershop, earning enough to care for her family and even start saving for the future.
The family has since moved into a larger, permanent single-room home, a symbol of how far their lives have been transformed. Now in school and full of confidence, Daisy dreams of becoming a nurse. With MOHI walking alongside them, her family continues to believe in and work towards a brighter tomorrow.
