Hello from Lochoredome. We would like to thank you for the love and support that you have shown to the community of Lochoredome and the students at our school this term. We would like to share with you some of the highlights of this term. God bless you.

Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Harry* is the fourth son in a polygamous family of 14 children: four girls and 10 boys. Harry's family lacked a reliable source of income, leading to economic, social, and physical hardships. He attended a local school up to Grade 5. His parents heard about Missions of Hope International and knew that their son would have a better chance at a bright future if he joined our center. They talked to a MOHI social worker and they told them their story. They worried about his education, wanting a better life for their son. Harry was recruited into Grade 3. Though he was in Grade 5 in his previous school, academically, he was far behind other MOHI students of his age.

Harry had been a member of another church in the community. However, as he got more integrated into the MOHI community, he began attending MOHI's Sunday services held at Lochoredome Center. There, Harry made new friends who encouraged him in his faith. Harry would come home and share what he learned at school and at church to his parents. His parents began to see positive transformation in his faith and character. They became curious about the church that he attended. They decided to visit the church, and they are now members of the church, attending every sunday. 

At school, Harry actively participates in drama, ball games, and scouting activities. He was selected to play ball games at the sub-county level and is known for his ability to narrate the school's history.

Harry is deeply grateful to MOHI for valuing education and reaching out to marginalized communities like Lochoredome. The quality of education that he receives at MOHI has changed his life and boosted his confidence. Harry is now a determined and focused young man who aspires to become a doctor in the future. He has become a beacon for positive change in his family and wishes to be the same in the broader Lochoredome community.

Harry's parents are also thankful for MOHI's presence in Turkana County. They appreciate MOHI's efforts to empower the community by challenging traditional beliefs and reducing poverty. They praise God for the positive transformation in their community and look forward to further growth and development.

• We thank God for the expansion of our school this term. We are adding a new building for the kindergarten students as well as improved staff housing. 
  
  
• We received praise again from the county government in our area during a meeting. They praised MOHI for the impact we have made in the community. We thank God, He has given us the opportunity to lead by example and inspire other community members to transformation.

• The school was honored to host the Eastside Christian Church and a medical team from Nairobi. They were able to screen 105 kindergarten and 52 Grade 1 students. They spent the night with staff and experienced sleeping a manyatta (Traditional home made of mud and wood).
  
  
• We also had a team from Rocky Mountain Christian Church. The team visited some of our families at home and spent time with their sponsored children.

• Pray for all the staff at MOHI who have lost their loved ones. We pray that God may comfort them in these trying times.
  
  
• Pray for peace in our country; for our leaders as they lead our country that they may listen to the grievances of the Kenyan people. 
  
  
• Pray for our students who are yet to receive sponsors.
