Hope Transforms: A Success Story

*Jamal is a Grade 5 student in our school. He has walked a remarkable journey of transformation. Since Grade 2, he and his younger brother have been under their grandmother’s care while their mother worked outside the country.

Growing up, Jamal faced a big challenge; he struggled with stammering. This often left him frustrated, and in turn, he became very aggressive. In class and at home, he quarreled and fought with other children. Whenever words failed him, anger took over. He reacted by hitting anything or anyone next to him. His grandmother, overwhelmed by his behavior, almost gave up hope. Frequent misunderstandings with her neighbors as a result of Jamal’s violence robbed her of peace.

But his teacher and social worker did not lose heart. They patiently walked with him, encouraging him to fold his hands whenever he felt the urge to hit someone. They tried different strategies, never giving up on him. Slowly, change began. Jamal could go a whole day without fighting! Even better, he discovered that his classmates and teachers genuinely cared for him. Surrounded by love and support, Jamal’s heart began to soften.

When his mother finally returned home last year, it completed the circle of love around him. With his family restored and the school community cheering him on, Jamal blossomed.

Today, Jamal is a happy, sociable boy. He no longer fights or uses abusive language. Instead, he is full of joy and laughter. We thank God for his transformation and celebrate being part of his journey.
