Hope Transforms: A Success Story
Mark is a six-year-old boy who lives with his mother and several other relatives. Twelve people live in their home. After Mark’s father passed away, his mother lost hope and struggled to support the family. She had been a housewife and lacked the skills to earn a living. One of her sisters took Mark in, but she was also a single mother with her own children.
Unfortunately, Mark’s aunt became ill and passed away, leaving the family in a more difficult situation. They relied on the kindness of others for a time until another aunt began working casual jobs to support the large family.
Mark had not yet started school, but his aunt enrolled him at our Korogocho B Center where one of her other children attended. Mark began school last year and is doing well. He enjoys school, where he receives nutritious meals and a quality education. Often, he is one of the first students to arrive and is an active participant in class.
During home visits, MOHI staff encouraged Mark’s mother to find work to support her family. She has gradually gained confidence and is now able to work casual jobs and buy necessary supplies.
Mark’s mother is grateful for the support MOHI has given her and her son. Mark is learning, receiving meals at school, and has access to healthcare. Most importantly, he is exposed to the Word of God and is learning about the love of Christ. We believe that this is a valuable investment in Mark’s life and that he will grow into a person who makes a positive impact on the world.
