Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Grace* is a 14-year-old Grade 6 student at Missions of Hope Kiwandani Center. She is the second-born in a family of four, and her siblings are also part of our program. For a while, Grace’s behavior had become a major concern at both school and home. She had fallen under the influence of negative friends in her neighborhood, which affected her discipline and attitude.

Her mother often came to school distressed about her daughter’s behavior. Grace would arrive home late after school and, on weekends, she would leave early in the morning and return late in the evening. She no longer helped with chores at home and often responded disrespectfully. The MOHI social worker took immediate action and invited Grace for several counselling sessions to talk about her behavior and choices. At first, there was little progress. However, the social worker never gave up on her. With support from the school pastor, Grace was placed in a counseling program where she received continued guidance, encouragement, and emotional support.

Gradually, positive change began to take root. Grace started to listen, reflect, and make better choices. Her mother began noticing improvement. Grace began coming home on time, helping with house chores, and being more respectful. Over time, these small steps grew into a remarkable transformation.

Today, Grace is among the most disciplined and responsible girls both at school and at home. She takes her studies seriously, completes her chores willingly, and serves as a positive role model for her younger siblings. Her mother is overjoyed and deeply grateful for the change in her daughter’s life.

We thank God and continue to pray that Grace will remain focused, responsible, and well-behaved as she continues with her education and growth.
