Calvary greetings from Kiwandani Center! As the second term comes to a close, we are excited to share the highlights of the term. Thank you for your continued support as we work towards transforming lives through the love of Jesus.

Hope Transforms: A Success Story

*Bahati is a Grade 3 student at our school. She is the third born of seven siblings and lives with her parents in the Kiwandani community. Two of Bahati’s siblings attend school at the Kiwandani Center. The whole family lives in a single room, like many others in the community. Her parents rely on inconsistent odd jobs to make ends meet. Life is not easy for Bahati and her family.  

A few months ago, tragedy struck. Bahati was involved in a motorbike accident that left her with a broken arm and leg. By God’s grace, our social worker was on his usual community visits. He responded quickly and rushed Bahati to a hospital. She spent two long months in the hospital, away from her friends, her classroom and the simple joy of childhood. Her mother never left her side, offering not just care, but the kind of strength only a mother can give. With limited resources and endless challenges, the family held on, not to what they had lost, but to what they still had: faith, love, and hope.

When Bahati was finally discharged, she returned home, still fragile and dependent. Walking was difficult, and her injured arm needed time to heal. Returning to school felt impossible. That was until our social worker stepped in again.

The social worker now takes her to and from school daily on his motorbike, and Bahati has rejoined her classmates.

Today, Bahati comes to school with renewed strength. Her arm, though still healing, is recovering beautifully. And what shines even brighter is her smile, full of life, joy, and the spirit of a fighter. She is once again laughing, learning, and playing with her classmates, reminding everyone around her that even the deepest wounds can heal with love and support.

Though her full recovery may take time, their family’s faith remains unshaken, their hope unbroken. Please pray for Bahati so that she can recover fully.

• Our students participated in handball competitions, winning at the area level and advancing to the sub-county level. It was a moment of learning and exposure as they tested their abilities outside academics and learnt new things from different schools in the region.
• We hosted an inter-class talent show, giving our students the opportunity to showcase their talents in various activities. 
• Excavation of our school building site started this term!
  
  

• This term, we conducted a Holy Communion service where 32 community and staff members participated.
• We held two Synergy Sunday services (A joint worship service that brings together MOHI staff, local churches, community members, and sometimes students and their families) with a combined attendance of 679 congregants.
• We also carried out evangelism during home visits, where one man, formerly known as a notorious criminal, gave his life to Christ.   
• We hosted Ignite programs (MOHI’s Spiritual development programs for primary school teens) attended by 20 staff members and 49 students.

• We hosted a team from Belmont Christian Church. They conducted a VBS with the students, which was so impactful. The team also conducted home visits, allowing them to interact with and pray for our parents, and sponsored some of our students. 
• A team from Summit Christian Church visited our center. They led a VBS, conducted home visits, and provided teacher training on classroom management and teaching methods for all levels. It was a great moment. 
• A team from Vibrant Christian Church visited and conducted VBS and home visits. Our students were excited to learn through the activities they had. They interacted with parents and members of the community during a special Sunday service. Some of our unsponsored students also got sponsored by the team!

• Pray for the protection of our students, staff, and parents from prevailing illnesses. 
• Pray that God will bring transformation in the lives of the students that we serve and their community.
