Greetings from Kibarani!

Greetings from Kibarani Center! As another school term comes to a close, we are grateful for the ways students, families, staff, and ministry partners have shared in this season of learning and growth. Thank you for your prayers, generosity, and continued encouragement.

  • We held a dedication ceremony for our junior high school building. The new space is helping students learn in a more comfortable environment.
  • Our Farming God’s Way project is thriving and is currently supplying students with vegetables. We hope students will also be able to share what they are learning with their families at home.

  • We hosted our Annual Couples Dinner, which brought together couples from the church and community for fellowship, reflection, and encouragement.
  • We held a Synergy Sunday service, which brings together the community, staff, and students to worship and strengthen unity. The service also strengthened relationships between Outreach Hope Church and Traders Point Christian Church.
  • We conducted a three-day street worship outreach at Tezo, a local shopping center. The outreach helped the church engage the community and continue building relationships in the area.

  • A ministry partner helped initiate the Farming God’s Way project by installing shade nets, a water storage tank, and drip irrigation systems to grow vegetables that supplement student nutrition.
  • A team from Traders Point Christian Church in Indianapolis, Indiana provided medical and dental clinics, serving 228 students and 110 staff and parents.
  • A team of pastors from Belmont spent time with the Outreach Hope Church Kibarani pastors, sharing ministry insights and encouraging local church leaders.

Jane is a mother, daughter, and member of the Kibarani school community. Like many parents, she works hard to care for her child and help meet the needs of her family.

Before becoming connected with Missions of Hope Kibarani, Jane supported her family by selling fried potatoes. She worked faithfully, but the income was often not enough to cover basic household needs. As a young mother, she carried the daily responsibility of providing for her daughter while also helping support her family.

When Jane’s mother heard about the opening of Missions of Hope Kibarani Center, she shared the news with Jane. Jane reached out to the school administration and was encouraged to apply for a security guard position. She was later hired and became part of the school staff.

Through her work at the school, Jane learned more about MOHI’s ministry and chose to enroll her daughter at Missions of Hope Kibarani. “It was such a relief for me,” Jane says. “Knowing that my daughter would now have access to quality education and a brighter future was very satisfying.”

Jane is grateful for steady employment and for the opportunity her daughter has to learn and grow in a caring school environment.

Jane’s mother also became connected with MOHI’s Economic Empowerment program, where she learned about saving and joined a savings group. Over time, Jane’s mother began selling fruit. The income from this business has helped their family meet more household needs and eased some of the financial pressure Jane once carried alone.

Jane’s story is one example of how holistic ministry can strengthen the family around a child. Through the Kibarani school community, her daughter is receiving an education, Jane has found meaningful work, and her mother has gained tools to help support the household. Together, they are continuing to move forward with gratitude to God and renewed hope for the future.

A different name has been used to honor privacy.

  • Pray for God’s renewing work in Kibarani, including protection for young people and hope for families facing difficult circumstances.
  • Pray that God will open more opportunities for growth and support for the students and community.
  • Pray for economic opportunities and encouragement for families working to provide for their children.

As you read about how God is working, please consider sending a message of encouragement to your sponsored child through the MOHI mobile app or through your online sponsor account. Your words can remind them that someone is praying for them, cheering them on, and grateful to be part of their journey.
