Flood Update:

Since this Community Update was written before the extreme rain and flooding took place in Kenya, we want to provide a quick update.

Although we recently experienced heavy rains and flooding, we are thankful to report that our center was not damaged. Unfortunately, however, the flooding directly affected several of our students and their families. We are connecting with them to provide support.

If you'd like to donate to MOHI's flood relief efforts, you can donate here.

Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Harry* and his two brothers faced adversity when their parents passed away from cancer, leaving the brothers homeless. Thankfully, a MOHI social worker rescued them from the streets and enrolled them in Kiamaiko School at the lower primary level. With their parents gone, life became even more challenging, but MOHI stepped in, offering them a chance to join our school which became a lifeline.

Thanks to MOHI, Harry and his siblings were able to continue their education from lower primary all the way through high school. This support not only ensured their academic progress but also provided much-needed stability in the absence of their parents.

Despite the obstacles they faced, Harry's younger siblings are still benefiting from the program. The youngest is now in Grade 9 in high school, while the second-born has successfully completed high school and looks forward to attending college.

Today, Harry works as a MOHI mentorship officer, grateful for MOHI's intervention in their lives. They didn't just provide an education; they instilled valuable life lessons and gave them a sense of purpose. Their story is one of resilience and positive transformation, made possible by the unwavering support of MOHI.

  • I am happy to share that our students’ election was a success this term. Students from all age groups participated, learning valuable lessons in civic engagement and democracy. Through this process, they gained a deeper understanding of voting's importance and the responsibilities of elected representatives.

  • Our drama team has also been thriving. After rigorous auditions and rehearsals, three of our performances have been selected to advance to the regional level. This achievement reflects the talent and hard work of our students and highlights our teachers' dedication to nurturing creativity.

  • Our athletes have been training diligently and fine-tuning their skills in various track and field events. I am pleased to report that our team is making remarkable progress and showing dedication. Our coaches and trainers are working closely with the athletes to ensure they're in peak condition for the competition.

  • Please join us in praying for peace, unity, and the overall well-being of our community. May God's presence bring comfort to those facing struggles and empower those working tirelessly to make a positive impact.

  • We also ask for prayers for the health and safety of all community members, particularly during these difficult economic times. Pray for protection from illness and disease, and for swift recovery and restoration for those who are sick.

  • Let us seek God's wisdom and guidance as we make decisions and plan for the future. Pray that we are led by His spirit in all our endeavors, prioritizing His will above our own.

  • Please pray for strength and resilience for our team as we navigate challenges and seize opportunities. May we remain steadfast in our commitment to serving others with compassion and integrity.

  • Pray for the families affected by the floods. May God provide for them and meet them at their point of need.
