Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Erick* comes from a single-parent family, where his mother is the sole breadwinner. To support the family, his mother sells peanuts. He has one older sibling.

Erick joined MOHI in 2015 as a Grade 1 student. He progressed steadily, though he was a good performer. However, things changed when he reached Grade 6. Due to peer pressure, his behavior declined drastically. His concentration in class also declined. This continued into his high school years.

Despite efforts to counsel him, his behavior did not improve, and this negatively affected his performance on his high school exit tests.

Erick experienced a turning point during MOHI’s Mnara Camp after high school. During one session, he made the decision to give his life to Christ. Since then, Erick has enrolled for a CISCO course and is concurrently studying Electronic Engineering at the MOHI Technical Training Institute. During his free time, he volunteers at MOHI’s Kiamaiko school.

Erick is now a transformed young man. He regularly visits junior students to share his story and mentor them. We thank God for the remarkable transformation in Erick’s life.

  • We are proud of our music team for representing us in the Kenya Music Festival at the regional level, showcasing the school's growing talent and dedication to the arts.
  • We successfully hosted our first Career Day, where students and parents explored possible career paths in the new education curriculum.
  • The school continues to thrive spiritually, academically, and in guidance and counseling, with noticeable improvements in overall performance.

  • We were pleased to have the Summit Christian Church team visit us this term. They conducted VBS activities for Grades 1 to 6, and thereafter we had a worship experience for 292 of our junior school students. The team also did evangelism within the community and prayed with the families they visited.
  • A team from Summit Christian Church held a debriefing session with 30 women from the community, focusing on personal life and parenting. The women openly shared about their struggles. They learned from each other’s experiences and gained practical tools for handling challenges in their homes and families. The Summit team also conducted a teacher training session focusing on language instruction in the lower grades.
  • A team from Crossroads Christian Church visited us. They led a VBS with students from preschool to Grade 5, where they shared fun activities like puppetry, craft, and snacks. They also made home visits, during which they sponsored four students. They concluded their visit with a worship and colour run activity, and during the worship, 17 students gave their lives to Christ.

  • Pray for peace and unity in the community we serve, so that protests and unrest may be avoided, creating a safe and stable environment for learning.
  • Pray for economic empowerment among families in the community.
  • Pray for the continued development of our school facilities.
