Greetings from Kargi!

Greetings from Kargi Center. We thank God for another successful term that has come to an end. At Kargi, we are very grateful for your support and partnership as we work together to transform lives through Christ. Let me share some of the term’s highlights.

Hope Transforms: A Success Story

*Jude is the second-born in a family of five. He is 16 years old and in Grade 5. Two of his siblings are also in Grade 1 at our school. His family lives in a small village within Kargi called Gobbore. Jude comes from a polygamous family. Life has not been easy for Jude.

After a family dispute rooted in traditions, his father abandoned his mother, leaving her to raise the children without any support. In his community, second wives often have no legal or social claim to family property. Jude’s mother was a second wife and was therefore left with very few possessions. Despite her struggles, she has always done her best to ensure that her children are well taken care of.

Before coming to MOHI, Jude had been enrolled in a public school. However, his father withdrew him and sent him to herd livestock, often without food or care, even when sick. These harsh conditions prompted our social worker to intervene. With the help of a local government representative, Jude was brought back home and officially enrolled at our school in 2021.

For Jude, school has been a safe place where he gets solace and protection. Though older than most of his classmates, Jude eagerly started schooling in preschool, alongside his younger sister. Our teachers dedicated more time to him, and he excelled quickly, moving up to second grade within the same year. His academic performance was so impressive that during a school assembly, Jude, one who could not read or write when he joined school, was invited to read the scripture in front of the entire school and visiting guests. His confidence and fluency amazed everyone.

Jude is now in Grade 5, and he continues to thrive. He meets and exceeds expectations. He is also active outside academics. He participates in the sports and drama clubs. Spiritually, Jude has grown tremendously. Once a quiet boy who could not even speak in front of classmates, he now confidently leads worship and shares words of encouragement with his peers. His teachers are happy and ready to support him so that he can achieve his goals.

As a school, we are proud of Jude. Jude has been a great inspiration to the community, from grazing fields to the classroom, and he is excelling!
