Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Paul is a sixth-grader at Kangagetei Center, hailing from Nabruk village. He lives with his single mother, who struggles to provide for the family with minimal income from weaving. The weaving business does not always yield profit, so often, the family can go to bed without eating anything.

Paul has always been a diligent student, completing assignments on time, enjoying and participating in co-curricular activities, and returning home promptly. He's also a helpful son, assisting his mother with household chores and caring for his siblings when she's away. Paul’s mother knew she could depend on him because he was very responsible despite his young age.

However, last term, Paul's behavior took a concerning turn. He started arriving late to school, often dirty and without books. He missed classes and even spent nights away from home. After some investigating, his social worker found out that Paul was associating with a group of boys who had dropped out of school and were involved in drug use and theft. His health deteriorated, his academic performance declined, and his attitude became rude.

A social worker intervened, alerting Paul's mother to the situation. She was shocked to learn of her son's involvement with the wrong crowd. With the support of the social worker, class teacher, and his mother, Paul began to turn his life around. His mother ensured he attended school regularly, providing him with the necessary school supplies. His social worker had a counseling session with Paul to help him cope with his feelings and attitude toward life and school.

This term, Paul has achieved perfect attendance and a positive attitude towards his studies. His class teacher has commended his improvement and leadership in morning devotions. Paul is determined to work hard and become a role model for others in similar circumstances.

We are hopeful that Paul will continue on this positive path, benefiting from his education, spiritual guidance, and the support of his community.
