Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Levi* was born in 2002, and he is now 22 years old. He grew up in Kangagetei village. He comes from a humble background. Levi and his siblings were raised by both parents with no reliable source of income, as they depend on weaving and herding to earn a living.

The community Levi grew up in was bound by negative cultural ties that viewed education as a waste of time and resources. As a result, Levi was raised to herd livestock like many of the men in his community. Through community awareness campaigns on the importance of education, his family began to see the value of education. Levi was fortunate enough to join Kangangatei Center for his early childhood education, and that marked the start of his educational journey.

He completed his primary education in 2018 and joined Missions of HopeTurkana High School for his high school education. From his first year in high school, Levi had the dream of going to college and becoming a teacher in the future. He worked hard and qualified to join university for a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education.

However, he was unable to join the university for his degree right away. His family social worker worked on a solution to enable him to continue his education. Levi was able to get a chance to teach as an assistant teacher in training while studying for his Bachelor of Arts in Education. With this part time job he was able to cover his school fees. Levi is grateful for all the support that Missions of Hope International has given him, especially in his academics. He has always been a good student since his early years of education. He is among many individuals we are nurturing and cultivating, hoping for their bright future. Glory be to God

  • We are very proud of our parents. After having a meeting with them, they all agreed to keep supporting their children and the school.

  • Our center's computer lab is being set up. The lab will help learners acquaint themselves with modern technology. This is a privilege many students do not have in their schools. Our students and teachers are very excited!

  • We are so proud of our soccer and volleyball teams. They competed against other schools in the region and qualified for the sub-county level. They had a great time competing and playing with other students from other schools.

  • Pray for protection of our Kangagetei students and staff from snakes, scorpions and other dangerous creatures that have increased in number of late.

  • Pray for the financial well-being of our parents as they work hard to provide for their children.

  • Pray for our staff members as they continue to transform the community, that God will give them all they need to bring the love of Jesus to the community.
