Greetings from Joska High!

Receive greetings from Joska High. This has been a meaningful term with important milestones for our school community. We greatly appreciate your prayers and support, and we give glory to God for His faithfulness throughout the term.

  • We welcomed 250 new senior school students. They have begun their learning activities and are adjusting well to the school community.
  • Our Grade 10 students attended Angaza Discovery Camp, a one-week discipleship experience at the Kenyan coast for tenth-grade students. Students received guidance on Christ-like character and healthy life decisions.
  • We celebrated improved academic performance. Sixty-three students earned grades that allow them to join different universities.
  • We received 23 new teachers to help meet the growing learning needs of our school. As part of onboarding, they were trained on MOHI Core Values and Competencies.
  • Our students participated in ball games and track competitions and performed well at the county level.

  • Twenty-two church members attended a men’s gathering and training on family stewardship. The training encouraged participants to lead and care for their families with greater wisdom.
  • Forty young people attended a youth retreat and worship experience, where they were encouraged in life skills and strengthened in their spiritual identity.
  • We held 11 discipleship classes with strong participation from junior school and high school students. Topics included salvation, prayer, and reading the Bible as part of growing in Christ-like identity.
  • During the weekend challenge, more than 1,000 students were ministered to through prayer, counseling, and encouragement. We thank God that 45 students chose to follow Jesus.

  • A ministry partner and friends toured the school and spent time encouraging students.
  • Teams from Legacy and Monmouth Christian Church joined us in a church service, interacted with students, and participated in home visits.
  • A team from Northridge spent time with students, toured the school, and participated in home visits.
  • A team from Eastside Christian Church in Fullerton, California, served alongside the Joska medical team as they cared for students and community members.
  • Several other ministry partners visited the school, joined a mid-week church service, and spent meaningful time with students.

Janet is a senior school student who grew up carrying many responsibilities during a difficult family season. Changes in her home life affected her sense of stability, and her family faced financial pressure that made education difficult to sustain.

During a home visit, MOHI social workers learned more about the family’s situation and began walking alongside them. Janet and her siblings were later connected to the MOHI program, where teachers and staff helped provide encouragement, a safe learning environment, and ongoing support.

At first, Janet struggled academically and emotionally. Over time, she began reaching out for help from teachers and peers. Boarding school provided a more stable setting for learning, and her mother also found work at the school, which helped strengthen the family’s daily life.

Janet continues to work through academic challenges, but she is growing in confidence and responsibility. She now serves as a dormitory monitor and hopes to become a teacher so she can encourage others in the future.

Her story is still unfolding, but it reflects the steady growth that can take shape when a student, family, teachers, and ministry partners walk together with hope in Christ.

A different name has been used to honor privacy.

  • Pray for the 223 students who will sit for their twelfth-grade national exit test at the end of the year.
  • Pray that our students will continue to grow academically.
  • Pray that parents in our community will experience provision as they care for their families.
  • Pray for God’s protection over our partners and their families.

As you read about how God is working, please consider sending a message of encouragement to your sponsored child through the MOHI mobile app or through your online sponsor account. Your words can remind them that someone is praying for them, cheering them on, and grateful to be part of their journey.
