Greetings from Coram Deo!

Hello from Coram Deo Center! We are thrilled to share some highlights of the first term of the year. Your continued support and partnership mean a lot to us as we work to transform lives through the love of Christ.

Flood Update:

Since this Community Update was written before the extreme rain and flooding took place in Kenya, we want to provide a quick update.

Despite the heavy rains, we are thankful to report that neither our center or the students we serve were directly affected. We did not experience the flooding that other areas were subject to.

If you'd like to donate to MOHI's flood relief efforts, you can donate here.

Hope Transforms: A Success Story

Grace*, a bright-eyed 6-year-old, is currently navigating her way through Grade 1 at Missions of Hope Coram Deo school. She has been attending this school since her kindergarten days back in 2022. She's the youngest of three siblings and shares a small two-room timber house with her hard-working single mother.

In the past, Grace's mother toiled as a casual laborer in farm fields, but the inconsistent work often meant they went without food. This struggle weighed heavily on both mother and daughter, with Grace occasionally missing school and enduring hunger pangs as her mother struggled to make ends meet.

However, fate took a turn during one of the home visits, when a social worker learned of Grace's predicament and her mother's earnest desire for her education. The social worker swiftly connected the family with Missions of Hope International's economic empowerment program, an opportunity the mother eagerly embraced.

After a year of diligent saving, the mother secured a loan, allowing her to pay Grace’s commitment fees and thus paving the way for Grace to attend school regularly and relish in the nutritious meals provided by Missions of Hope International. Presently, the mother juggles casual work at a local hotel while saving up for a second loan, which she plans to use to kickstart her own business venture.

This tale of transformation fills us with gratitude, a testament to the blessings bestowed upon us by the divine.
