Hope Transforms: A Success Story
Jane* comes from a family of six children. She’s the second last in the family. Jane joined our school in 2024 as a kindergartner. At first, she didn’t like school at all. Every morning, her mother would walk her all the way to the school gate before heading off to work.
In the second and third terms, Jane began coming to school on her own, but she would often cry for long hours, even during class, without any clear reason. In class, she barely spoke, and the teacher would sometimes call the social worker, worried that something might be wrong. Her behavior concerned her teacher and the social worker, who made a home visit to find out what Jane was struggling with.
During the home visit, Jane’s parents said she hadn’t shown any signs of illness at home. A checkup by our school nurse also confirmed there were no medical concerns.
But at the start of the following school year, everything changed.
Jane began showing a strong interest in school and classwork. Currently, everyday during roll call, she’s now the first to report which students are absent, confidently, and in English! Her teacher is amazed by the transformation. Jane now excels in all subjects, especially reading and writing. She leads her class in morning devotions and often recites Bible verses with confidence and joy.
During a recent home visit, her parents shared their amazement. Jane completes her homework independently and makes very few, if any, mistakes. She even leads her siblings in prayer before meals and bedtime. Every evening, she gathers the whole family to share the Word of God.
Her influence has brought about a beautiful change in her home, especially in her father, who previously didn’t attend church. These days, he goes to church with the entire family every Sunday. There’s a renewed sense of joy and unity in their home, and her parents say that Jane reminds them daily to love one another just as God loved us—by sending His only Son so we might inherit His Kingdom.
Jane’s story is a powerful testimony of how God is at work, transforming young lives and entire families through His love.
