Flood Update:

Since this Community Update was written before the extreme rain and flooding took place in Kenya, we want to provide a quick update.

Despite the heavy rains, we are thankful to report that neither our center or the students we serve were directly affected. We did not experience the flooding that other areas were subject to.

If you'd like to donate to MOHI's flood relief efforts, you can donate here.

Hope Transforms: A Success Story

David* hails from Kagimbo village, born into a loving and supportive family. At the age of 11, he embodies resilience and a thirst for knowledge. His educational journey began at Bishop Dan Primary School in 2019, where he started in grade one. In 2022, the school transitioned under the management of Missions of Hope International, marking a pivotal moment in David's life.

Currently in Grade 6, David's trajectory took a transformative turn in December of the previous year. During a Sunday service at our school, he experienced a profound spiritual awakening and made the decision to accept Jesus Christ as his personal savior. Since then, his life has undergone remarkable changes, evident in both his academic performance and character development.

Under the nurturing environment provided by Missions of Hope International, David has flourished. His academic endeavors have seen significant improvement, reflecting his newfound focus and dedication. Beyond the classroom, his demeanor radiates discipline and integrity, earning him admiration from peers and faculty alike.

As the son of one of our esteemed staff members, David's transformation is not only recognized within the school but also at home. His mother bears witness to the positive changes in his behavior and outlook on life. His exemplary conduct serves as a beacon of inspiration to his fellow learners, as he passionately shares the message of hope and salvation with others, inviting them to embrace the teachings of Christ.

In both word and deed, David embodies the values of compassion, leadership, and faith. His journey serves as a testament to the transformative power of education and the unwavering support of a nurturing community. Through his unwavering commitment to personal growth and spiritual enlightenment, David exemplifies the potential for positive change within us all.

  • In this first term of the year, our students were preparing for athletic events in both the primary and junior secondary school, as well as ball games like handball and basketball.

  • Our teachers recently completed the second module of Core Teacher Training (a program that gives teachers the tools for effective teaching). They have been equipped with valuable skills and knowledge to effectively teach students with diverse abilities and levels.

  • We are thrilled that our kitchen staff now have access to the newly constructed kitchen shade they have been eagerly anticipating. Previously, they were exposed to the sun, which affected their daily work. We give all glory and honor to God for this improvement.

  • Let's pray for the well-being of our students, staff, and parents. The area is susceptible to malaria because of the presence of mosquito breeding grounds. May everyone remain healthy and protected from illnesses.

  • Pray for the families affected by the floods. May God provide for them and meet them at their point of need.
